I think that content strategy and art direction are basically the same at their core, no matter the business.
If the logic I lay out helps businesses:
- increase sales themselves;
- understand what level of art director they're dealing with and whether they're worth the money;
- have an answer to why they need this or that content (instead of thinking about content just because "we need to post something" – which in most cases means wasting budget);
then I'll be genuinely happy.
Because I really dislike:
1. the business model where a person pays first and only later finds out what value the purchase actually had (courses, consulting, and so on).
The most constructive option, in my view, is to keep the base openly accessible – so people with limited budgets can put together the first iterations themselves, and a specialist steps in to solve unique problems and / or improve the system.
2. how society keeps pouring resources into recreating the same work over and over, instead of investing them in improving quality of life.
